What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies — like local storage and session storage — work in much the same way. This policy covers all of them.
Our approach
We keep this simple:
- Essential technologies are used to make the website work. These do not need your consent.
- Analytics cookies help us understand how the website is used. These are only set if you accept them. Nothing analytics-related loads until you do.
You can accept or reject analytics cookies using the banner shown on your first visit, and change your mind at any time (see "Changing your choice" below).
What we use
Essential — always active
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
skipsense_consent | SkipSense | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don't ask again | 12 months |
cf_clearance, __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Turnstile — protects our contact forms from automated abuse | Session to 30 minutes |
| Session storage: campaign parameters | SkipSense | If you arrive from a marketing link, remembers which campaign for the length of your visit, so we know what's working when you send an enquiry | Until you close the tab |
We consider these strictly necessary: without consent storage we would have to ask you on every page, and without bot protection our forms would be unusable.
Analytics — only with your consent
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another | 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Maintains session state | 2 years |
If you reject analytics cookies, Google Analytics is never loaded — the script is not added to the page at all.
What we do not use
We do not use advertising or retargeting pixels, social media tracking, session recording, or heatmap tools on this website.
Analytics that do not use cookies
We use Vercel Analytics to measure page views and page speed. It does not use cookies and does not collect or store anything that identifies you personally, so it runs regardless of your cookie choice.
Changing your choice
You can change your cookie preferences at any time:
- Use the Manage cookie preferences link in the footer of any page, or
- Clear your browser's site data for skipsense.co.uk — the banner will appear again on your next visit
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers explain how in their help pages. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of this website working.
